Brazil is experiencing a new travel disruption today as LATAM, GOL and Azul have all been rocked by cancellations and delays, with the ongoing operational challenges compounded by poor weather and airport systems (at São Paulo & Porto Alegre) struggling to cope. The total number of canceled flights in the two main airports was 26 (15 LATAM, seven GOL, four Azul), but more than 110 flights were delayed, delaying the plans of thousands of passengers. At São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport, 66 delays and 12 cancellations were registered, especially with LATAM and GOL, and Salgado Filho in Porto Alegre recorded 48 delays and 14 cancellations, even with a 41% delay rate for Azul. As summer travel peaked, Brazil's three largest domestic carriers faced difficulty maintaining service, illustrating growing stresses on Brazilian aviation, even as international carriers faced relatively muted impacts from the coronavirus.
